After I was given this Lancelot as a prize I showed everyone on my team, and anyone who walked by this sword! The conclusion was more or less universal:
This weapon is a sublime piece of artwork, terrifying in its lethality and meticulously beautiful in its craftsmanship. The sharpness is a testament to modern day honing while the form feels ancient and mystical. Based on the reactions I saw, anyone who held it couldn’t help but feel like a nobleman warrior or wandering hero armed with a magical blade! Thank you for bringing this heirloom into existence! You and your team do amazing work!
LK Crossbowmen Dao, Niu Wei Dao, survival knife and Lancelot Sword Supreme Cutter Classic Lancelot-Sharp™ were used in the cutting against forearm, upper arm and thigh targets.
Sammy challenges the upper arm and thigh targets again.
Sammy cut my kind of targets for the first time, finding it more difficult than tatami.
Sammy is a newcomer in test cutting practice, who bought the first Supreme Cutter Classic with Lancelot Sharp. He's a practitioner of one of the Hong Kong HEMA club. With this sword and my online tutorial that came with the purchase, he manages to cut 2 rolls of tatami mats with 1 cut. The sword basically turned him into a capable cutting person immediately.

This video surprised me. So many these days talk about some mystical way to have power. some type of magical power through the force. That is not the case here. Lancelot discusses the physiology and physics of how we operate. Granted I have seen others discuss some of this, but not nearly as clear and concise as Lancelot does. He goes through the different levels and does some demonstration to prove his point. Truly a must watch not only to improve your swordsmanship, but for just about any form of fighting or many sports.
Lancelot's online course adds real depth to conventional sword training, which can apply to all styles of swordsmanship no matter the style or lineage. Each course teaches you the details and true secrets to efficient cutting, with real examples and effective training methods. You will not only learn how to tune and hone your edge alignment, power generation, and grip positioning, but develop your technique with specific drills and training. Each lesson is worth the cost, and each lesson has a distinct takeaway that will improve your sword skills.
"I’m not sure where to begin this review. I do have several which are mostly replicas of historical swords. I have done some cutting but not to the extent that this sword has demonstrated ability. So most of my experience is with common swords which for the most part are military models. As with most everything made with military application in mind there is compromise. Many factors come into play. Studying historical swords does show a certain evolution in designs and features as warfare changed over the years. What worked, what didn’t and how form (aesthetics) sometimes won out to function.
All that said, the sword being reviewed here, The Supreme Cutter Classic is a modern sword. One can see and make comparisons to common swords, but this one is truly purpose built without frills. While it is not possible to “reinvent the wheel” here, we can make it better. While many historical swords do perform reasonably well and can exceed expectations in skilled hands, they are often limited in how far they can be pushed. The one size fits all which tends to work ok with military weapons, is not what this sword is about.
On to the sword, i have the Supreme Cutter Classic. It is very well constructed with no visible flaws of any kind. It feels very solid. It feels lighter than it’s weight and is nimble to swing. While I haven’t cut true “hard” targets, I am working on that and looking forward to trying it with this one. Mostly for the experience as it has already been demonstrated that it will do that. I have the Lancelot Sharp version. Many have commented what that is compared to the factory edge. Watching the video of this process is very impressive. The factory edge may indeed cut well but not hold the edge. The Lancelot sharp version will cut and hold the edge for repeated use. The blade steel is not one of the high tech modern super steels but none the less perhaps a very good choice. While some of “those” steels have some impressive properties they do that at the expense of being finicky to work with and harder to maintain. So instead of being a compromise the choice of steel is a good choice. And it works.
The curvature of the handle is interesting and may take a bit to get used to. It perhaps does work quite well when you get used to it as Lancelot does show very impressive speed with it. Also the curvature of the blade is noticeable when swinging the sword and should help with indexing the blade. The blade does seem to have decent distal taper. I haven’t measured it, but its there. Not too extreme as the blade is still plenty stiff. Which should help in using the blade to parry another weapon. The blade is fairly wide in profile and tapers to the edge from the narrow fuller somewhat convex. All that adds up to a blade while resembling a katana in profile it feels very different from a katana. My experience has shown that combination of wide edge, with slightly convex taper and a spine that isn’t too think does cut very well.
I haven’t had this sword very long and so far have only had the chance to practice swinging it. It does feel comfortable and very lively in my hands. I can see this sword being one which would inspire confidence, which comes with having the right tool for the job if needed.
The scabbard fits very well and is high quality. Overall I am very impressed so far with this sword. Hopefully I will get to try some serious cutting with it soon. It is very nice to have a modern sword which can be pushed beyond the norm. "
"The swords are astonishing beyond belief. They are abnormally quick! The compact is as fast as a hira zukuri katana!
I'm fortunate to own the whole set of three swords. They are all very good cutting swords with beautiful shapes. I will try to explain the difference between them.
The Compact is extremely fast. It was not a very light sword, honestly, but the speed is as fast as those of the extremely light sword. This has surprised me very much!
The Ultra is the most desired one. It's huge but extremely light and agile, very fast in cutting speed. It is very hard to find such a sword in the market. For those who want to try their hands on a huge sword but worry about their strength and ability, you should try Ultra.
The Classic is a bit embarrassing, though, not that it's not good but it's not a lot shorter than Ultra. However, this size is good for every situation and guarantee you can fight out of it. If you are going to only get one, this is the one. If you want to have more fun, Ultra and Compact are better. "
Lancelot's note: Tung has not cut with the swords yet, so he does not realize Classic's extreme cutting power over the other two, not yet. There's a photo that is comparing Longship Armoury Giant Silvia and Supreme Cutter Ultra, with the former costing over 3.27 times more. The Ultra is a lot more agile and faster than the GS, and cuts even better.
"Wanted to share my latest acquisition. Actually ran across this on this forum and it just called out to me. After watching the cutting videos, well it was a done deal.
Customer service was great, shipping really fast considering it travelled from the other side of the world. Here are some pictures of the Lancelot Ying Chih Chan Supreme Cutter Compact.
The balance and weight are wonderful. Love the way it handles and the unique features blending old and new into a totally new design. A simple sword that is very well done.
I added a few of my Japanese Swords just as a reference. Well ok, to show them also.
Two Bugei and an Iron Tiger Forge (Kult of Athena). All nice weapons.
Something a little different from my European collection."
